Accessible Travel to Athens

Getting To Athens by Plane

The Athens airport has level access at the exit.

Accessible travel to Athens from the airport is possible by taking the accessible train or accessible bus. The international airport is called Elefthérios Venizélos and is about 30 km east of the city centre. Directly across the street is the train station. You can take the accessible Metrol Line 3 into Athens.

From the airport you have 3 options to get in town. You can cross the street to the train station where the accessible Metro line 3 will get you into town in 45 min. The X95 bus has a wheelchair ramp and takes 60-90 min depending on traffic. You can also take a taxi into town.

Getting To Athens by Train

The Metro Line 3 has flat access to get onto the train.

Taking a train is another option for accessible travel to Athens. I haven’t done research on the Athens train station. Book an accessible hotel room here and I’ll find out about accessibility for you.

Getting To Athens by Boat

The Athens airport has wheelchair accessible restrooms.

The Piraeus boat dock will take you to the various Greek Islands including Santorini, Mykonos, and Crete. I haven’t done research on the Piraeus boat dock. Book an accessible hotel room here and I’ll find out about accessibilityfor you.
