Client Testimonials – Rome Accessible Travel Packages

Dear John and Donna:

David and I would like to say a BIG, “Thank You” for all of your help in regards to our trip to Italy.  We had a fabulous time and we would love to use your Travel Services in the future to other cities in Europe.

Rome was our first stop and the hotel you recommended was the best of all the hotels we stayed in. The bathroom was fabulous. It looks newly remodeled and David really liked it.  The included self-serve breakfast tasty and ample.  The location was right in the heart of everything.

David’s scooter is larger, by length, than the average wheelchair and it made certain things a challenge for me and for others assisting us.  One person, who assisted us greatly was our driver for the 3 tours in Rome.  His name was Fabrizio and he could not have been better or nicer.  What a wonderful man.

We managed through all of the situations that came our way and overall had a great vacation and a successful trip. Thank you both again for all your assistance and we wish the best of luck to both of you in the future.

Hi Donna,

Thank you for following up. I had an amazing trip. Your services were very helpful as I really didn’t know what to expect. The wheelchair was delivered as specified and I assume it was picked up as well. The hotel was quite hesitant to take responsibility for it. The only glitch was that the wheelchair people were unavailable on the weekends so I was unable to contact them and leave a message (I arrived and left on a weekend). The hotel concierge from both hotels graciously contacted them for me.

The guided tours were awesome. The knowledge of both guides was impressive and they both went out of their way to accommodate us. Thomas took us around the Forum and Colisseum – he was helpful, pleasant and funny!  The Accessible Group Walking Tour with Julia had to be rebooked because it was pouring rain, a wheel had broken on my wheelchair (I was unable to contact them as it was on Sunday), therefore I was unable to walk well enough to do the tour. She was very gracious about it and suggested rebooking – we were able to work it in later mid-week. Again, she was very knowledgeable and funny and we had a wonderful time.

Thank you again for all your help. I will certainly contact you again if I should be fortunate enough to return to Europe.

Hi John

Both my wife and I, would like to thank you for arranging such a wonderfull trip for us.

Everything went smoothly and the Tour of the Vatican was spectacular. Would not have been able to do that one by myself.

Your information book was again, indispensible.

There was so much to see, and unfortunatly, we didnt get to see everything, so maybe a return trip would be on the cards.

The hotel was perfect and the staff and room were top class.

If you ever get to Prague, please let us know. Its the one place my wife would like to go.

Again, many thanks.

Hi Donna,

We have just finished the Rome part of the trip and wanted to say what a wonderful time we had. The hotel was perfect very accessible and nice. The staff were excellent. The location was also perfect we could walk/scooter to lots of places. We had two great meals at restaurants near the Piazza del Popolo, they had great outdoor spaces which the scooter could park right up to the tables. The first one was called Gusto, a restaurant recommended by the hotel. The second was Rosati. The hotel called and organized the table for us. As a bonus we even got to meet bill Clinton who was dinning next door!

Our tour yesterday could not have been better. Our guide Julia was amazing. The forum and
Coliseum were closed because of a strike but we saw a lot of the sights. We can’t say enough about Julia. We found everything very accessible.

The tour today was not as easy. There was a lot of confusion at the Vatican about whether the chapel was accessible or not. We eventually figured it out. For someone of my dad’s size he need to use the lift with just him and then the scooter on it’s own. Given how busy it was this was a little frenzied but it worked. It took quite a bit of time so didn’t leave much for st.peters. And they only  allowed my dad to have one companion so the guide and my brother and I actually did not get to go in but my brother and I have both been there before so at least we had seen it.

Our driver was really excellent, his name was fabritco And we had him all three days, which was really nice as we didn’t have to explain things. The van was perfect.  The travel company was also really great with changes in times or destinations to accommodate the changes to the tours. This really helped make our trip enjoyable.

Anyways we thought we would give some feedback while it was fresh in our minds. Thank you so much for providing this service, without it I don’t think we could have undertaken such an adventure.

Thanks again,
-Kara

Donna,

I cannot thank you enough for making my trip to Rome and Florence so wonderful.

Rome: The hotel was spotlessly clean and beautifully restored. The accessible room is quite large with a huge bathroom. The staff did everything they could to assist with the wheelchair and scooter issues. John was our guide for two days and he was just great. Transfers were either on time or early. The hotel is within 1/2 block of Trevi Fountain and within easy walking distance of The Duomo, Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio and more.

Florence: The hotel is a beautifully restored hotel within easy walking-rolling distance of many important sites. I cannot give enough praise to the hotel staff (especially the day desk manager and the day and evening doormen) who went above and beyond when I had the scooter problem. (Travelers should be aware that while this hotel is a wonderful place to stay, it does have its drawback by having a rather large step at the entry. The hotel has created their own version of a wooden portable ramp that the doorman brings out when needed, but it is very steep and beyond the end of the ramp is about 3′ of sidewalk before a curb drop of about 5″. The hotel might consider a second portable ramp to put at the end of the first one and run it into the street. Since a person using the ramps would only need them for a few minutes, I believe a double ramp or some variation thereon, could be done without interfering with the limited vehicle traffic.) Despite this challenge, staff was remarkable in assisting me to enjoy Florence so much I wish I could live there. We had two of the most amazing guides ever. They shall forever remain in my memories of Florence.

I would highly recommend both of these hotels and our guides.

Traveling outside of the United States is always a challenge, but thanks to Donna and all of the people mentioned in this testimonial and we are most grateful. A special thanks to Donna and to Sage Traveling for offering this much needed accessible travel service who might otherwise not be able to enjoy what the world has to offer.

Hi Donna,

Just to let you know that we had a wonderful time in Rome last week. You even organised the weather for us!

Every one of the arrangements came off without a hitch. The hotel was fine – it had many little pizzerias in the neighbouring streets (we tried all of them out!). We thought the tours were brilliant – guides Laura (Rome) and Dario (Naples) did really excellent jobs. So, thank you very much indeed. Next time we go to Europe we shall definitely contact you.
