Accessible Coast of Light Shore Excursion

This accessible driving tour of the Coast of Light is one for the memory books! Enjoy exploring the white washed fishing village of Conil de la Frontera, see the famous Cape of Trafalgar and experience the historic city center of Vejer de la Frontera.

Your private tour guide and accessible van will meet you at the cruise terminal or centrally located Cadiz hotel. From here, you will head out on a scenic driving tour along the Coast of Light to your first stop of the day, Vejer de Frontera, an Andalusian hilltop town. This charming town occupies a low hill overlooking the Straits of Gibraltar and is surrounded by orchards and orange groves. Escorted by your tour guide, you’ll explore the old city center including the vibrant hub Plaza de Espana, known for its elaborate 20th century, Seville-tiled fountain, beautiful white washed Town Hall, cafes, shops and palm trees. You’ll also get to visit the historic Convento de las Concepcionistas which is the current venue of Vejer’s Museum of Customs Traditions. This is the only remnant of the original Convent founded in 1552. Inside the church you will see the incredibly beautiful renaissance style doorway, the spherical dome erected on the Chapel and the vaulted crypt of the founders. To the side of the building, you will find one of the most emblematic streets of the city “Arco de las Monjas”. Your tour guide will share the fascinating history of the place with you as you explore the site together.

Next, your wheelchair accessible Coast of Light driving tour continues to the popular Cape of Trafalgar. In one of the most decisive naval battles in history which took place in 1805, a British fleet under Admiral Lord Nelson defeated Napoleon’s combined French and Spanish fleet at the so-called Battle of Trafalgar, right of the cost of the cape. If time allows, you’ll make a short stop here to learn about the Battle that took place at this site and see the famous lighthouse from afar.

Your last stop along the coast will be the incredible white washed fishing village of Conil de la Frontera. This beautiful Andalusian seaside paradise offers beautiful coastal views and a fascinating historic city center that you’ll get to explore firsthand. Escorted by your tour guide, you’ll enjoy an accessible guided tour in the heart of the city, seeing highlights such as the characteristic old white washed buildings, the Medieval tower Torre de Guzman, Plaza Santa Catalina and its 15th century church. You will also have some free time for souvenir shopping, coffee or tapas in one of the charming beachfront restaurants if you desire.
