Accessible Guided tour of Frederiksborg Castle from Copenhagen

Get ready to experience a truly unique visit to the incredible Frederksborg Castle! This tour includes round trip accessible transfers from your centrally located Copenhagen hotel to the castle, as well as a friendly expert tour guide who will narrate you through your intriguing visit to the Palace.

Start your tour by meeting your private tour guide and accessible van at your hotel. From here, you will head out on an approximately 45 minute drive for your visit to Frederiksborg Castle in the town of Hilleroed. Upon arrival at the Castle, you will start out by admiring the stunning exterior and beautiful castle garden created by architect J.C. Krieger in 1725.

Frederiksborg Castle was built in the early decades of the 17th century by King Christian IV. The castle is the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia! Throughout the 17th century, the Castle was often used as a royal residence, for instance by Frederik VIII in the 1850s. The aim of the building was to show off and enhance Christian IV’s status as a powerful European monarch. Accordingly, the castle is richly adorned with symbolic and decorative elements: for example, the impressive Neptune Fountain and the Marble Gallery of the King’s Wing.

Escorted by your private tour guide, you will explore the historic castle firsthand. Since 1878, the Castle has housed the Museum of National History, which presents 500 years of Danish history with a collection of portraits, history paintings, furniture and applied art. To navigate between the different floors of the Museum, you will use a lift. The entire Museum is wheelchair accessible with the exception of the Castle Chapel and the Great Hall.

At the end of your guided tour, your accessible transportation will be ready to escort you back to your accessible Copenhagen hotel.
