Escorted by your private tour guide, you will explore the historic Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and admire some world-famous Beatles landmarks along the way.
Your day will begin by meeting your private, local tour guide at the Liverpool cruise dock or centrally located Liverpool hotel. From here, you will enjoy a leisurely stroll to Canada Boulevard, dedicated to all the Canadians who fought in the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II. The Boulevard attests to Liverpool’s crucial contribution to the Battle of the Atlantic, and the walkway is peppered with memorial plaques in memory of the fallen fighters. Continue through World Heritage Liverpool, admiring the wonderful Three Graces and the waterfront statues of the Beatles, Ronald Ross and Second World War hero Captain “Johnnie” Walker.
Next, you will board your accessible vehicle for a short drive to the old Royal Albert Dock, a historic complex of dock building and warehouses. The Dock opened in 1846 and was the first structure in Britain to be built from cast iron, brick and stone, with no structural wood. While here, you will get out to experience the site firsthand, as your tour guide shares interesting history with you that covers Liverpool’s maritime past, its involvement in the history of slave trade and the American Civil War.
