Haifa & Jewish Sites Accessible Shore Excursion
This full day accessible shore excursion of Haifa and the Jewish sites visits Elijah’s Cave, the Tomb of Maimonides, and highlights both history and faith.
Your guide and driver will pick you up from the cruise terminal in a wheelchair accessible van to start your Haifa accessible shore excursion. You will visit Elijah’s Cave, located at the foot of Cape Carmel. This chapel enshrines a cave where the Biblical prophet Elijah is believed to have lived. Head coverings, provided at the entrance to the cave, must be worn inside.
You will drive through Lower Galilee to Migdal and visit the Sea of Galilee. The Sea of Galilee, also known as Kinneret or Lake Tiberias, is Israel’s largest fresh water reservoir, and is also the country’s largest and most important source of drinking water.
Afterwards, you will go to Tiberias, home to one of Israel’s most important Jewish pilgrimage sites, the Tomb of Maimonides. Maimonides is a very important figure in Jewish history and was an important philosopher and rabbi. He died in Cairo in 1204 and is now buried in Tiberias.
You will stop for lunch in an accessible restaurant in Tiberias, and then visit Degania, the first Kibbutz in Israel.
At the conclusion of your Haifa accessible shore excursion, your driver will take you back to the cruise terminal in Haifa.
