Please note, there isn’t currently an accessible vehicle available in Costa Maya so wheelchair users must be able to transfer to a standard van or sedan and store the mobility equipment in the back or trunk. 

On this accessible cruise excursion, your day will begin by meeting your tour guide and transportation near the Costa Maya cruise dock. From here, you will head out on a tropical jungle drive as you enjoy an interesting narrative introduction to Costa Maya.

Your local tour guide is eager to show you the Chacchoben ruins with 70 incredible Mayan structures! The ruins have only been open to the public since 2003. Chacchoben is situated in the lush jungle of Costa Maya and truly brings you to the heart of the Mayan culture. Have your camera ready for some incredible photos of you in front of ancient Mayan ruins! The flora and fauna surrounding the ruins will capture your attention while you learn about medicinal plants and how they are used. The site also has a small ramped souvenir shop and a wheelchair friendly restroom onsite.

The Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Accessible Tour has a 2-star accessibility rating. The route has been customized to make sure it is entirely step-free, and your tour guide is familiar with accessibility in each location. It did not receive a higher rating because there isn’t currently an accessible vehicle available in Costa Maya. Clients will have to transfer into a standard van or sedan car and mobility equipment will have to be stored during the driving portions of the tour.  

There is a ramp available to enter the bathroom and souvenir area.

Accessible entrance to bathroom and enough space to position a wheelchair next to the toilet.
