This Classic Costa Maya Accessible Cruise Excursion offers a unique and authentic experience unlike any other in the Caribbean! Escorted by your friendly, local tour guide, you will explore the incredible Chacchoben ruins with 70 Mayan structures firsthand! You will also get to visit the authentic Mahahual fishing village and enjoy some free time for lunch by the beach. Please note, there isn’t currently an accessible vehicle available in Costa Maya so wheelchair users must be able to transfer to a standard van or sedan and store the mobility equipment in the back or trunk.

On this accessible cruise excursion, your day will begin by meeting your private tour guide and transportation near the Costa Maya cruise dock. From here, you will head out on a scenic drive as you enjoy an intriguing introduction of Costa Maya. The lush, tropical landscape and untouched scenery is sure to impress you!

The first stop of your day will be the incredible Chacchoben ruins with 70 authentic Mayan structures! The site has only been open to the public since 2003. The ruins are situated in the jungle and truly bring you to the heart of the Mayan culture. The flora and fauna will capture your attention while you learn about medicinal plants and how they are used. Using accessible paths that are flat and wheelchair friendly, you will explore the site and get up close to the ancient temples.

After you visit the ruins, you will continue your tour back towards the coast and make a stop at the charming fishing village of Mahahual. While here, you will see the older part of the village with traditional homes, fishermen and local culture, before heading down to the newer area by the beautiful beaches. You will exit the van to enjoy some leisurely time by the accessible boardwalk and beach. You will also have opportunities to sample fresh seasonal fruit harvested by the locals, browse the many vendor stands, enjoy a delicious lunch on your own, or relax at the beach.
