Venetian Empire Wheelchair Accessible Shore Excursion

Full day in St. Mark’s neighborhood with guided tour

Nearly all first-time visitors to Venice have a short list of must-see activities while in Venice: visiting the magnificent St. Mark’s Square, viewing the overhead mosaics in St. Mark’s Basilica, and experiencing the history captured in the Doge’s Palace. This Venice wheelchair accessible shore excursion satisfies all those interests.

A private wheelchair accessible water taxi will meet you at the cruise dock to comfortably bring you directly to St. Mark’s Square. You’ll spend the morning exploring St. Mark’s neighborhood using the Venice Accessibility Guide by Sage Traveling followed by a 2.5 hour tour of St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace in the afternoon. A wheelchair accessible water taxi will transport you back to the cruise dock at the end of your Venetian Empire wheelchair accessible shore excursion.

Venice Accessible Cruise Excursion Itinerary

9 am (or whenever your cruise ship arrives) – A wheelchair accessible van will meet you at the cruise dock and transport you to Piazzale Roma where you will meet your tour guide and accessible water taxi (shown on the right) to transport you to St. Mark’s Square.

Morning – You will have a 2.5 hour private tour of St. Mark’s Basilica & Doge’s Palace. Your Heart of Venice Accessible Tour will use the wheelchair accessible ramped entrance to the St. Mark’s Basilica (shown below on the left) and the wheelchair accessible route through the Doge’s Palace (Doge’s Palace wheelchair ramp shown below on the right).

Lunch – Lunch at one of the accessible restaurants on St. Mark’s Square or one of the nearby side streets

Afternoon – In the afternoon, you are free to explore St. Mark’s neighborhood using the accessible routes and advice included in the Venice Accessibility Guide by Sage Traveling. You can visit the Correr Museum (accessible entrance shown below on the left), the Campanile, and see the Bridge of Sighs from the nearby ramped bridge (shown below on the right). You could also have a cup of coffee at the tables lining St. Mark’s Square or shop in some of the wheelchair accessible boutiques.

Your tour will be given by an expert local guide. These guides aren’t just visitors that have memorized a guide book….they are full-time residents of Venice and can tell you what it is actually like to live on the water!

Tour Meet-up Location (at Porta della Carta which is the Doge’s Palace exit):

6 pm (or whenever you need to head back to your ship) – Your Venice wheelchair accessible shore excursion will finish with accessible water taxi transportation back to Piazzale Roma where your accessible van will be waiting to take you back to the cruise dock.
