Wheelchair Accessible Hotel near Vatican

This wheelchair accessible hotel is located in one of the most wheelchair friendly neighborhoods in Rome. Although the streets immediately surrounding this hotel have mild cobblestones, the sidewalks are smooth with curb cuts at the street intersections, and there are no hills. There is another nearby wheelchair accessible hotel near the Vatican that does not have cobblestones on the streets near it.

The hotel is near the Tiber River between the wheelchair accessible Vatican (1 mile, 1.6 km away) and the Spanish Steps (0.75 miles, 1.2 km away). The accessible shopping on Via del Courso and the accessible shopping on Via Cola di Rienzo are both within walking distance of the hotel. Your tour guide can meet you in the lobby of this hotel to begin your private Vatican accessible tour.

The accessibility at this Vatican wheelchair accessible hotel is excellent, and I give it our highest 5 Star Sage Accessibility Rating. The roll-in shower has grab bars and so does the toilet. The entrance has a wheelchair lift and the doorman can activate it for you. The central location and the nearby accessible shopping make this an excellent option for wheelchair tourists in Rome.

This hotel has 2 wheelchair accessible rooms. The rooms have a little less space on the sides of the beds than other Rome wheelchair accessible hotels although most wheelchairs would fit. If you need more room, you can ask the staff to slide the bed over a little bit.

The wheelchair accessible hotel bathroom has a roll-in shower with a grab bar on the wall. The toilet is located on the immediate right and also has a grab bar next to it. The sink is high enough that a wheelchair user’s knees can fit underneath.

The disable hotel room has a second bathroom located directly across the hall. It has a bathtub and is not adapted for wheelchair users.

The main entrance has flat access at the doorway followed by 4 steps.

A wheelchair lift is located just to the right of the steps. A doorman is present and can activate the wheelchair lift for you.

The hotel bar is step free and has plenty of space for wheelchair users and mobility scooter users.

The elevator to reach the accessible hotel room has a door that is wide enough for wheelchairs.

An interior, covered courtyard can be reached without needing to go up any steps or stairs.

The breakfast area has enough space for wheelchair users to fit between the tables.

The streets around the hotel are flat with cobblestones. Some of the streets don’t have sidewalks so you will need to stay in the street. There’s not a whole lot of traffic so it’s not very dangerous. There is a restaurant nearby called Trattoria della Barchella that has wheelchair accessible outdoor seating.
