Wheelchair Access at Benaki Museum of Greek History and Culture

  Wheelchair access at the Benaki Museum of Greek History and Culture is possible via an accessible entrance at the rear of the building. To reach it, you will need to go down the alley on the left hand side of the building. Once inside you can take an elevator to the exhibition levels.

All areas of the museum are step-free except for a few exhibition rooms on the café level that have steps leading to them. The café also has a few steps leading to it.Path from the street to the entrance.

There are English captions but the captions don’t provide much context. Consequently, I didn’t enjoy the museum as much as the nearby Byzantine and Christian Art Museum and Cycladic Art Museum.

If you approach from Syntagma Square, you will need to go up a hill with 3 star flatness.Alley leading to accessible entrance.

Is there an accessible entrance? Yes, to the left of the building is an alley which leads to the back of the building. There you will find level access into the building and an elevator up to the exhibition floors.

Where is the closest place that cars/taxis can drop-off people? In front of the building on Leoforos Vasileos Sofias street The accessible entrance is flat.

What are the nearby tube stations? Metro lines 2, 3 (Syntagma & Evagelismos stations)

What bus lines pass nearby? Busses 022, 060, 200, 203, 204, 211, 214, 220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 231, 235, 408, 419, 601, 603, 622, 815, Α5, Γ5, Ε5Θ, Ε6, Ε7

What percentage of the attraction can be viewed without having to go up steps? 90%

Which parts are not accessible? A few exhibition rooms on the café level are not handicapped accessible.

Is there an accessible toilet? The door to the toilet on the café level is not wide enough for a wheelchair. Book an accessible hotel room here and I’ll find out for you if there is another toilet that is accessible.
