Accessibility Description

The Accessible Pompeii & Herculaneum with Naples Walking Tour has a 3 Star Sage Accessibility Rating because it has step-free routes throughout the tour. Tour participants will encounter some uneven terrain in Pompeii and some cobblestones in Naples, but wheelchair users should have little problem.

This tour did not receive a higher accessibility rating because wheelchair users will need to be able to transfer into a car. If you would like to stay in your wheelchair during the tour, you can choose one of the tours with a 4 Star Sage Accessibility Rating: the Naples & Sorrento Accessible Shore Excursion or the Pompeii & Amalfi Coast Accessible Tour.

The tour guide for your Accessible Pompeii & Herculaneum with Naples Walking Tour will be holding a sign with your name waiting for you at the accessible Naples cruise terminal.

Transportation on your Naples accessible guided tour will be provided by a car for groups of two people or less. Groups between three people and seven people will use the minivan shown in the photos shown below.

Most tourists enter Pompeii using the uphill entrance covered in enormous cobblestones (shown in the photo on the left). Your Naples accessible guided tour will use an accessible Pompeii entrance instead (shown in the photo on the right).

In order to meet the accessibility needs of all visitors, the Accessible Pompeii & Herculaneum with Naples Walking Tour uses a variety of wheelchair ramps (shown on the left) and pavement (shown on the right) to take the most accessible path possible.

You will avoid the extremely non-wheelchair friendly paths that most tours take which involve stairs (shown in the photo on the left) and non-continuous sidewalks (shown in the photo on the right).

The accessible Herculaneum tour begins with an overview of the site while looking down from the accessible sidewalk surrounding Herculaneum (view from the sidewalk shown in photo on the left). Your tour will include visits to several of the buildings with step-free entrances (shown in the photo on the right).

The accessible tour of Herculaneum uses a series of wheelchair ramps and paved paths to enter the ruins and travel between the different buildings.

Your Naples accessible walking tour will include a visit to the famous Galleria Umberto and will avoid the steps shown in the photo on the left. You will also visit the San Carlo Opera House built in 1937 next to the Royal Palace.

The accessible Naples walking tour will bring you to the Castel Nuovo (shown in the photo on the left) and the Castel dell’Ovo (shown in the photo on the right).

The Piazza del Plescibito (shown in the photo on the left) is one of the most popular sights in Naples and will be visited on this Naples accessible walking tour. All portions of the tour that include walking/rolling will use curb cuts such as those shown in the photo on the right.
